There was strong criticism from Members that the 2013-2014 Board had been keeping secrets. And in some respects the Members were right. During the last two years, the Board had been agonizing over labor issues, and in labor issues there are legal traps in saying the wrong thing, betraying an employees confidentiality, and bringing an expensive lawsuit upon the Village. The Board's response was to say almost nothing.

The 2014-2015 Board has talked about this problem and will be taking concrete steps to correct it. Our new general manager has a long, successful history in employee management and her willingness to be involved at a hands-on level will relieve the Board of this duty. We are hoping that her professional experience will prevent problems before they start. So now we are turning our attention to keeping Members informed, involved and educated on the decisions we have to make.
